Two new horses are coming January 7th to the LotRO Store!

The Warden’s Steed

A striking liver chestnut steed, complete with saddle bag, horse blanket, and decorated with the Seven Stars of Westernesse. This steed has 150 health and allows the character purchasing it to travel at 162% speed. Available from the LotRO Store for 1295 TP!   Check here for the official announcement.

The Steed of Esteldin

A sleek palomino steed with a braided mane and flaxen tail, a rich leather saddle and sturdy breastplate. This steed has 150 health and allows the character purchasing it to travel at 162% speed. Available from the LotRO Store for 1295 TP!  Check here for the official announcement.

Some may be irritated with the ability to purchase faction steeds in the LotRO Store, however, keep in mind the store purchased steeds are ‘regular’ not ‘Prized’ steeds and will have less HP than the earned mounts.  I believe these steeds are the first of many regular versions of faction steeds that will soon be introduced into the game.  ‘Prized’ steeds will keep their increased HP while ‘regular’ steeds will look identical or similar to their ‘Prized’ counterparts, but will have lower stats.

Overall, the regular steeds will make a fine edition to any stable!

Horse Design Contest – PAX Edition

Now is your chance to show your creativity as well as your love
for all things equestrian!  The LotRO Horse Design Contest is now
accepting submissions until January 3rd, 2011 for a new steed to
be included in the game.  Past winners of this contest include:

Gundryn who designed the Spring Festival Blue Roan &
Aqina Valour who designed the Prized Smokey Black horse
from Mirkwood.

In addition to having your horse design implemented in the live
game, the winner will also receive a free copy of their mount to use
in-game!

Angmar Free Folk Steed

Angmar Free Folk Steed currently has wrong skin and will be repaired soon.

As many of you have already noticed, the Angmar Free Folk
Steed looks identical to the Dunedain War Steed. This was an
error and will be fixed with a new skin in a future update.  LotRO
Online Team member and Senior Designer ‘Orion’ stated in the
official forums:

“This will be fixed! There was a little hiccup in the process of
getting this in the game.  We are in the process of getting the
correct appearance on this horse, but we cannot tell you when
it will be updated. We will make certain that the new
appearance gets into the game as it is not supposed to be a
spitting image of an existing horse appearance.”–Orion
